If you love a good blowout, you need to check out Glam + Go immediately. The company started out in 2015 by Erika Wasser while she was a stand-up comedian and on-air host. She noticed herself spending more and more time at the typical blow dry bars after the gym.
She couldn’t understand why the 20 minute glam experience she got in green rooms wasn’t available to her outside of her broadcast career: so she created it. The blow dry bar offers memberships and most locations are located in hotels all over the nation. I personally checked out the one in Santa Monica in the Fairmont Hotel. I had a chance to interview Erika, so you can find out how she created her vision below!
Can you tell us about how you came up with Glam + Go?
I was working in entertainment as on camera talent and would always be in green rooms getting glammed up before a shoot in very modest settings, with great quality. Knowing that the end result of a phenomenal hair day could be made so much more efficient, I knew that that is what I wanted to bring to the market.
How did you choose your 10 locations?
We've really been guided by our customers and having great partners that had previous scale. Our first partner, exhale Spa, is now still our largest. We're opening our 5th location with them in Bal Harbor, Florida with them this season.
What makes it different than other blow dry bars?
Our express services, to me, are game changers. You're in and out in 15 or 30 minutes with a blowout that lasts for days.
How did you decide which locations will do hair cuts/ blow outs?
We wanted to make sure that in adding new services, we wouldn't be taking away from our existing core menu or blowout customer so finding the locations that had the physical space to accommodate hair cuts was important and finding locations where we could add chairs to accommodate haircut clients without infringing upon our blowout members was important.
What is the best look for someone heading out for a date?
I love a mix of our beach body with serious curves. It’s not sexy, voluminous hair and it’s not undone waves – it’s a look perfectly in-between that says "I was looking forward to this date. I'm trying... but not too hard."
How did you choose the look options?
We always like to be in front of what is on trend, but there are some classic styles that will never be out of style – it’s those looks that we wanted to feature as our core menu items. Of course, if you come in with something runway inspired or that you just want to try - at Glam+Go our menu is just a jumping off point.
What can we expect to see from Glam + Go in 2019 and the rest of this year?
GROWTH! We are growing - fast. We're bringing in really exciting retail partnerships. We are launching our "Style Speaker Series" at TriBeCa which will be quarterly events where we bring in really interesting thought leaders on style, or female entrepreneurship. 2019 will be the “Year of GLAM+GO!”
