Last night, in a Bel Air mansion, A-list Angelenos fawned over some fancy footwear by Roger Vivier at the brand’s latest outpost of Hotel Vivier—a one-night-only, make-believe hotel that began in Paris before traveling to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul. Next stop, Chengdu, China!

Guests were invited to the “inn” to experience the Vivier world; rooms contained hotel amenities (like a swanky 1950s-style beauty parlor) and were staffed with characters who appeared straight out of a Wes Anderson film. The scene evoked a decadent fashion fantasy fit for a queen—probably because the sprawling space, known as the Pink House, was originally built in the image of Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon in Versailles.

Among the crowd were Mandy Moore, Patricia Arquette, Christina Ricci, Joey King, Halston Sage, Larsen Thompson, Skyler Samuels, and Lottie Moss. Attendees sipped Champagne as they toured the two-story mansion and nibbled on macarons and cake. All the while Chuck Grant (first, a cool-girl photographer, and second, the sister of Lana Del Rey) snapped photos.

Roger Vivier, famous for popularizing the stiletto heel, focused on the color pink for its latest collection. Among the offerings: the Très Vivier pump, the Viv’ Run sneaker, glamourous leather bags, and silk satin clutches. Moss said of the brand, “I feel like it’s one of those shoes you would wear if you lived in a big mansion; nothing but Roger Vivier shoes, underwear, a robe, and hair in a towel. It’s a definite Cinderella and fairy-tale vibe.”

Creative director Gherardo Felloni and brand ambassador Ines de la Fressange hosted the fete to celebrate women, beauty, and, of course, shoes. “We picked the most important cities in terms of imaginary theme,” said Gherardo. “Los Angeles reminds me of movies and Hollywood, which I’m obsessed with. Also, we used pink because it’s a Roger Vivier color, and we focused on fun because that’s what a Roger Vivier woman is.”

As the Golden State increasingly becomes the center of everything, last night’s event proved that Los Angeles is more than green juice and power yoga. After all, the car-centric city makes wearing fabulous (and sky-high!) heels that much more convenient.
