Nicki Minaj Celebrated Her “Prints On” Capsule Collection for Fendi With a Very Pink Party

Beverly Hills was lit up in pink last night, the glow emanating from the Fendi boutique, which celebrated the new “Prints On” capsule collection conceived by Nicki Minaj. A total of 127 pieces—ready-to-wear, swimwear, handbags, sunglasses, and footwear—are splashed in a bubblegum pink monogram and aluminum foil-like metallics and were designed by Minaj in collaboration with Fendi creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Out to celebrate the drop were Euphoria’s Storm Reid and Sydney Sweeney. “I feel like Fendi is an iconic brand, but also a way to express yourself. They take so many risks, which I love as an artist,” said Reid. Sweeney chimed in to express her love for Minaj: “Who doesn’t love Nicki? Her music is amazing, and I’m wearing the collection tonight. I was terrified I wasn’t going to be able to pull anything off, but she made it so anybody could feel sexy.”

So how did the collaboration come about? It all started with a lyric. “I made a song called ‘Chun Li’ and I said ‘Fendi prints on,’” explained the singer. “I asked to use Fendi on the cover art and they were all with it. I had already shot with Karl Lagerfeld and he was someone that I always loved so much, and when I realized that he liked me, it just warmed my heart because I was so obsessed with him. So, they gave me permission to use Fendi.”

Of the design process, Minaj explained, “Fendi then brought me out to Milan and said, ‘When your song came out, the clothes that had the actual Fendi prints on started selling more.’ I respected them so much for telling me that; we all know how hip-hop influences fashion, but a lot of times, we don’t get that credit, so I fell in love with them for saying that.”

Prints On features pieces fit for Minaj’s stage, like hot pink lycra pumps, metallic silver handbags, leather ski boots, and silk ties. Looks were showcased in Steven Klein’s campaign photos, which were shot poolside in Los Angeles and on the bodies of many of last night’s guests. Those in the crowd included Aleali May, Diplo, DJ Va$htie, Chloe and Halle Bailey, Larsen Thompson, and Paris Jackson; most everyone sipped Champagne as they browsed the new, very pink collection. Is there such a thing as too much of the color? Minaj and Fendi prove the limit does not exist.
